PEDRALI - The Italian Essence

The first participation of Pedrali at the BIENNALE INTERIEUR (Kortrijk, October 17-26) coincides with the presence of Joseph Grima as curator of the cultural programme, as evidence of the growth of this event as meeting place for experiencing avant-garde trends and the influences which define contemporary design.

The Italian manufacturer will focus on the wooden collections as Malmö family, born from an imaginary journey along the sides of a Scandinavian lake, Tivoli, which recalls the traditional wooden chairs, Inga, featured by soft and essential shapes, Frida, winner of the XXII Compasso d'Oro ADI Award for its “simple sculptural beauty” and Babila, chairs able to move along tradition and innovation with great agility.

A choice that shows the will and commitment of Pedrali in keeping its research in woodworking. A path started in 2006 with the opening of its production plant in Manzano (UD), reorganized and enlarged this year, where a team of skilled artisans, supported by modern technologies, manufacture furnishing products with the finest woods.

Moreover the Babila chair, in the plywood shell stained black and steel rood sled frame version, will be the key player of the BIENNALE BISTRO, a temporary space in the city center to meet people, drinking a coffee or tasting some delicious Belgian dishes.

The interior project is conceived and developed by the last eight winners of The Belgian Designers of the Year Award: Alain Berteau (2006), Nedda El-Asmar (2007), Stefan Schöning (2008), Sylvain Willenz (2009), Bram Boo (2010), Nathalie Dewez (2011), Alain Gilles (2012), and Jean-François D’Or (2013).
