Tribeca selected for the ADI Design Index 2019
The armchair designed by CMP Design for Pedrali competes for the Compasso d’Oro 2020
970 products submitted. 226 among them chosen for the ADI Design Index 2019, the selection through which the ADI Design Permanent Observatory gathers every year the best of industrial design. An appointment that has become a point of reference for design quality from furniture to vehicles, from machine tools to communication, without forgetting social design.
The 2019 selection is important because, together with last year's selection, it completes the choices that will be submitted in 2020 to the international jury of the XXVI Compasso d'Oro, the most prestigious industrial design award worldwide. Two important aspects stand out. The first is the variety of material proposed: there are products from the whole wide range of skills and competences of every Italian region with the common theme of Made in Italy. The second characteristic is the growing attention given to sustainability. This value is now a regular feature of Italian design culture and is reflected in many ofthe selected products.
Tribeca, designed by CMP Design for Pedrali, is one of the products selected for the ADI Design Index. This collection takes us back in time with a modern reinterpretation of classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven material. An outdoor icon, revisited through new materials: a webbing in vertically-woven extruded PVC with a nylon core that is truly durable, easy to clean and colourful, is combined with the solid tubular frame. Handcrafted with the highest attention to detail, this chair is incredibly soft and comfortable and puts a contemporary twist on tradition with its cutting-edge design and quality. The cording is arranged to give a fresh and dynamic sense of rhythm and openness to every version. A successful collection that includes a chair, an armchair, a stool in two different heights, a lounge armchair and a two-seater sofa.
A significant number of the products selected for the ADI Design Index 2019 is exhibited from 14 to 20 October in Milan, at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology, and from 22 to 26 November in Rome, at the Casa dell’Architettura, within an installation by Cortesi Design.
