New collaboration 2020: Pedrali welcomes Sebastian Herkner
The Italian company and the renowned German designer join forces for a new collection
Pedrali opens its doors to Sebastian Herkner, one of the biggest names in contemporary international design. The artistic and design partnership gives rise to a new collection that combines shapes and materials, with a special focus on detail.
The creative and design universe of Sebastian Herkner, 2019 Designer of the Year, is guided by craftsmanship, quality and functionality. In line with Pedrali’s philosophy, this is a world where traditional artisan skills blend with new production technologies to create products based on high quality materials that age with time. Herkner’s idea is to create every single element in the best way possible, taking into account all the details and every step of the process required to create an extraordinary object. His work is underscored by a sensitivity and an identity that emphasizes functionality, materials and attention to detail.
The partnership is born of a mutual enthusiasm, as Herkner states: «I met Monica and Giuseppe already about 5 years ago and we always had an interesting conversation when we met. Very down to earth and precise. This was at the end a perfect starting point for a collaboration and a productive dialogue about design, quality and local production».
Sebastian Herkner (born 1981) studied Product Design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design. During his studies he began to focus on designing objects and furniture, honing his keen sense for materials, colors and textures. In the year 2006 Sebastian Herkner founded his own studio. Since that time, he has designed furniture, lamps and smaller items. Herkner also realizes interior architecture projects and museum and exhibition design.
His works have won numerous accolades – among others the IF Award, the Iconic Award and the Elle Deco International Design Award (EDIDA). As Guest of Honor to imm cologne 2016, Sebastian Herkner provided the design for “Das Haus”. Maison&Objet has elected him 2019 “Designer of the Year”.
